Design award to Lundhs and design duo Jenkins&Uhnger for “Essence”

The exclusive accessory range “Essence” was named “Product of the year” by The Federation of Norwegian Industries, on the 11th of June.

On Tuesday 11th of June the winners of the Export business of the year, Brand builder of the year, Product of the year and the Classic award were revealed at the annual meeting in Næringslivets Hus in Oslo. Norwegian Design Industry, the industry association for this sector in Norway, is behind these annual awards.

Lundhs won the category “Product of the year” with the accessory range “Essence,” which was created in collaboration between Lundhs and the design duo Sverre Uhnger and Thomas Jenkins. The exclusive collection comprises vases, plates and mortars, made from Norwegian natural stone such as Larvikite and anorthosite.

Mortar made by natural stone, Lundhs Emerald.

“Lundhs is an exciting supplier of products based on own raw materials, which are Norwegian. They have developed a range of products in collaboration with two interesting designers. The products have created gentle lines in an otherwise very hard material,”

Lundhs has in recent years experienced an increasing interest in Larvikite among designers and artists, architects and consumers. This was one of the reasons the company wanted to develop a separate interior collection. It is also linked to Lundhs’ efforts to move from being solely a raw material provider to building a global brand. This means that it is important to us to show new and interesting areas of use.

“Creating this series in partnership with the skilled design duo Jenkins & Uhnger gave everything an extra dimension. The Essence range promotes Norwegian raw materials with excellent Norwegian design, produced in Scandinavia”

Hege Lundh, Marketing Director in Lundhs.

The range received a warm reception when it was presented for the first time during the London Design Fair in the autumn of 2018. It is sold mainly via Lundhs’ online store, but also in a few select stores; The Conran Shop i London, Pur Norsk in Oslo and Nr9 in Sandefjord.
